Our Favorite Game! 8

We're going back to "The Outside World" tonight.

Contestants: Mark Daniels, Tiffany Moore, Kristin Withers

Toss-Up 1: Before & after

WHAT?! "Before & after" in a Toss-Up? This better be easy...

F _ _ H _ _ _ / R O _
_ T _ _ A _ _

Mark's not FISHING ROD STEWART, but he's earned his first grand with that quick solve.

Toss-Up 2: What are you doing?
_ N J O _ I _ _ / T _ E
F A L L / _ _ L _ _ G E

Mark's ENJOYING THE FALL FOLIAGE for now, so he's two for two so far. By the way, the last two words of that puzzle were the name of a theme week from season 27 of the real show (in early October of 2009). [1]

Trip on the Wheel: Vancouver Island, Canada, $5,500

Jackpot Round: Event

Mark
Free Play! - 2 N's!
$300 (slipped past Bankrupt, no reaction) - No S. He nearly said R.

Tiffany
Bankrupt!

Kristin
$2,500! - 2 R's! Mark says, "You really stole my letter." Still, very nice!
1 E.
1 A. I thought it would be an I.
$2,500 again! - 1 L! WOW! There's 1 of everything.
1 I!
1 O! Only consonants left.

_ O R _ A L
_ I N N E R

Kristin goes to a FORMAL DINNER worth $6,500 in cash!

Unclaimed Jackpot: $10,800

$600 (nearly hit $3,500) - 1 T.
1 E.
FIVE A's! Very nice!
$900 (nearly hit the other 1/2-Car plate, darn) - No R.

If she landed on that other 1/2-Car, that would hurt...

Kristin
$1 Million right-side Bankrupt!

Mark
$400 (nearly hit the Gift Tag) - 1 N.
$600 - 2 L's!
No I.

A L A S _ A N
_ A L A _ _ T E

Tiffany must have heard about an ALASKAN MALAMUTE, because I've never heard of one. Anyway, her $600 turns into a grand for that solve, and she has one half of a car.

Mark: $3,000
Tiffany: $1,000 + 1/2-Car
Kristin: $6,500

Prize Puzzle: Landmark (another 2-liner...oh, boy...)

$550 - 1 N.
$550 again - No S. Darn.

Mark

M _ _ N T
R _ Y A L / P A R K

With $4,800 in hand, Mark IDs MOUNT ROYAL PARK in his $6,000 vacation town of MONTREAL, CANADA! He's earned $10,800 that round! Sorry he couldn't get a car to drive around there, though.

Mark: $13,800 cash and Canada
Tiffany: $1,000
Kristin: $6,500

Toss-Up 3: Show biz
S K _ T _ _
C O M _ _ Y

Mark's in no SKETCH COMEDY; he's swept the Toss-Ups for a new total of $16,800!

Round 4: Event

Mark
$800 - 2 N's!
1 E.
$900 (slipped past Bankrupt) - 1 R.

Final Spin value: $1,500 (Pat initially hit Bankrupt and it slipped past $5,000! Darn.)

Still Mark's turn - 1 D.
Tiffany - No T.
Kristin - 1 S.
Mark - 1 L.
Tiffany - 1 A. 1 of everything 3.0!
Kristin - 2 I's! She should solve it by now...

S E _ I _ I N A L
R _ _ N D

...but unbelievably, she doesn't! It doesn't matter, she'll miss out on the $1,000 minimum anyway.

Mark - 1 M.

S E M I _ I N A L
R _ _ N D

At the end of this SEMIFINAL ROUND, Mark's sealed the deal with another $6,750 in cash!

Mark: $23,550

_ E _ _ T _

Mark picks HYDI:

Y _ _ T H / &
_ E _ _ T Y

People have YOUTH & BEAUTY, and Mark knows this for another $45,000! He leaves us with $68,550, cash and Canada! You did great tonight, sir!

Mark purchases a well-deserved $30,000 Halloween set!

  2. Good show tonight.

    Toss-Ups: Nice sweep by Mark!

Round 1: Nice round for Kristin!

Round 2: Tiffany, if you knew the solution, why not go for those M's? And according to Google, a malamute is a type of dog.

Round 3: Nice round for Mark!

Round 4: Kristin's blanking didn't matter. She still wouldn't have won.

Bonus Round: I guess Mark thought it had to do with measurement (WIDTH or HEIGHT, for example). Still, good picks lead to an easy win!

    Rating: 8/10
